Vice President Bawumia pays courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs

H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has on June 10, 2024, commenced his community outreach in the Ashanti Region with a meeting with the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs.

He stated that, “Agriculture is one of the sector’s that my vision for Ghana will focus on to ensure food sustainability, through commercial technology driven form of agriculture. Again, I intend to reduce electricity tariffs by utilizing solar energy with a target of producing 2000 megawatts of solar power which is equivalent to more than half percent of Ghana’s electricity consumption. Factories will be constructed to produce these solar panels, which will in turn create job for the youth.”

Dr. Bawumia further added that, as far as his vision for Ghana post-2024 is concerned, his government will shift expenditure to the private sector and incentivize them as they are a vital part of Ghana’s economic growth, his government will grant tax amnesty prior to flat rate tax system, introduce flat rate on import duties in Cedis, introduce same import duties like that of Togo, introduce credit system in Ghana by December, making it the second country in Sub-Saharan Africa to have this system.

He again stated that, “I will amend the section 63 D of the Chieftaincy Act to empower Chiefs to help Government to govern this country and as well provide them resources to ensure effective productivity.” Adding that, systems will also be put in place to curb disputes associated with Chieftaincy lines of succession and lands.

Dr. Bawumia has as well welcomed their concerns, encouragement and insightful suggestions which are aimed at enhancing his transformational vision and policies for the benefit of citizens and enhance development.
