His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expresses confidence in Vice President Bawumia’s candidacy

H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has on Wednesday June 12, 2024, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace to share his vision and policies for Ghana post-2024 and also seek his wise counsel.

Sharing his vision with the Asantehene, he stated that, “Railways are very important infrastructure in the development of every country. Ghana has a lot of mineral deposits which when exploited will need railways to aid in their transportation, therefore my government will work together with the private sector to construct railway lines to transport mineral deposits just as other countries have done. Railway development is one of the key policies my government will implement.”

Dr. Bawumia further added that his government will reduce government expenditure and resource the private sector with incentives to take charge of national projects to curb the issue of uncompleted projects due to lack of funds, implement tax amnesty prior to flat rate tax and utilize solar power to aid in the reduction of electricity tariffs.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has also expressed trust in Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy and competence to enhance development in Ghana, saying, “I have known you, political power has not changed you, keep being humble. Continue to treat Ghanaians with respect and humility and explain to them what you want to do for them. I know you can do the job if Ghanaians vote for you.”

Dr. Bawumia has expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty for the warm reception, wise counsel, support and encouragement.
