H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has on Monday September 9, 2024, filed his Presidential nomination forms to contest the 2024 Presidential elections at the Headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC), in Accra.
He has noted that, “For me, it is personally a very historic opportunity to submit these forms for the first time as a presidential candidate”. Adding that, “historically, I think Ghana is in a very envious position as far as the conduct of elections is concerned and I believe that Madam Chair and your team will leave it up to it. But let’s pray they will continue to pray for God’s blessings for the EC and also pray for God’s blessings for the New Patriotic Party, myself and my team so that we will emerge victorious in this elections”.
The Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Jean Mensah had this to say, “This is the first time that a sitting vice president has personally presented his nomination form to the Electoral Commission.” She has as well assured Dr. Bawumia that her team will start reviewing the forms.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by his wife, H.E Mrs. Samira Bawumia, his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP Chairman, Stephen Ayensu Ntim, the NPP General Secretary, Justin Koduah, the Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, among others.
