Vice President of the Republic, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on his working visit to Estonia, has on January 26, 2024, visited digitalization agencies in the country.
These agencies include, “the e-Governance Academy, e-Estonia Briefing Centre, Estonian Tax and Customs Board and, Cybernetica, the country’s agency in charge of data protection”, Dr. Bawumia noted.
He further noted that the delegation from Ghana including the Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning, Ghana Revenue Authority, National Information Technology Agency, Volta River Authority, and Private Sector IT and Fintech Companies, held profitable meetings with the agencies and were provided with in-depth insights into Estonia’s digital journey, tax system, cybersecurity framework, and the major influence of their worldwide known digitalisation on their society.
Dr. Bawumia has added that, “Digitalization in Estonia has been very effective in the fight against corruption” and he is “convinced that Ghana is not far behind and we are clearly on the right track.”
Our tour and discussions provided us with some useful insights and suggestions for pushing Ghana to the frontiers of the digital economy, Dr. Bawumia further added.
