H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic, has on January 22, 2024, launched the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA)/Mastercard Foundation Business in A Box (Bizbox) Project in Accra, to empower and support individuals.
He noted that, “The Ghs 660 million GEA/Mastercard Foundation Business in A Box (Bizbox) Project aims to empower 250,000 individuals and support 125,000 with start-up kits, as well as provide, market access support to 50,000 businesses and regulatory support to 40,000 businesses”.
Dr Bawumia further added that, the project happens to be the largest ever funding for such an initiative and it has come in less than a month after Government, through the GEA made available an additional Ghs 31 million to 3000 youth-led start-ups and Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. This amounts to Ghs 100 million Government has provided to such enterprises in 2023.
“The future is filled with possibilities, and I urge the youth, women, the vulnerable and indeed, all Ghanaians to actively engage and leverage the many opportunities to create jobs and make a sustainable, decent living”, he added.
The Bizbox project is the latest of the initiatives by the Akufo-Addo led administration to create training, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for Ghanaian youth, women and the vulnerable.
