The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has on May 14 2024, joined the executives and members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association to mark this year’s International Day for Nurses and Midwives, in Accra.
He has highlighted on the significance of the day saying, “…it serves as an important reminder of the invaluable service Ghanaian nurses and midwives offer us.” Adding that, Government has shown strong commitment to the progress of healthcare delivery in the country through effective interventions such as delivery of essential medical supplies to remote areas through drones, provision of ambulances for all constituencies, digitalization of hospital records, construction of hospitals in regional and district capitals (Agenda 111), digitalization of NHIS membership registration and membership renewal, and the recruitment of about 100,000 nurses since 2017.
Dr. Bawumia has congratulated all nurses and midwives for their selflessness and dedication and has assured that as President, he will strengthen these major gains and prioritize the welfare of healthcare professionals in Ghana.
