Vice President Bawumia advocates for a 10% quota for national cadet corps in security services

H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has on Monday July 1, 2024, advocated for a minimum of 10% recruitment quota for national cadet corps in security services at the 70th  anniversary of the National Cadet Corps and Cadet Youth Parade at the Black Star Square, in Accra.

“I am informed that most of our good security chiefs across board were once upon a time members of the cadet corps, when they were in school. I hear that last year you asked for a quota of 2 percent of recruitment to be given to the national cadet corps, but I don’t think based on what we have seen today, I don’t think that is bold enough. I believe we should start with a minimum of 10 percent”, Dr. Bawumia said.

He further added that, he is glad that government over the years has deemed it necessary to create opportunities for the national cadet corps to have their day celebrated in July every year. Adding that, he is confident that the youth of Ghana will maintain peace and stability in the country before, during and after the 2024 general elections as they have done over the years.
