The Ghana Smart Schools Project launched: Government’s promise to Senior High School students fulfilled

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, has on March 25, 2024, launched the Ghana Smart Schools Project popularly known as “One Student- One Tablet” at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The launch is in fulfillment of Government’s promise to Senior High School (S.H.S) students as was mentioned in the Vice President’s, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s address at the 2023 New Year School, at the University of Ghana, in January 2023.

“We are on course to provide all Senior High School students in Ghana with Tablets which are loaded with Textbooks on them for their study. That is … a game changing development if you will call it and so we will have past questions and all of that pre-loaded on these Tablets that will be distributed”, Dr. Bawumia indicated in his address at the New Year School.

Dr. Bawumia has further added that, this project builds on Government’s policy of using technology to digitalize education to meet global demands and enable Ghanaian students to compete on a global scale. Adding that, “Government will continue to empower Ghanaian students to learn the smart way to ensure limitless possibilities for growth”.
