The Vice President of the Republic and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), H.E Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has on March 13, 2024, launched the School Licensing and Inspection Management System (SLIMS), a digital system for the licensing and inspection of schools by the independent National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), in Accra.
He noted that, “The implementation of the system, has addressed many challenges in the old manual system, as it has moved the licensing, monitoring and inspection of schools, from the laborious and time-consuming old system of documentation, to a more efficient and transparent online system, which has significantly enhanced the capacity of NaSIA to inspect schools from one school a week under the manual system to an average of two schools a day. It has also significantly reduced processing time for the production of inspection reports from 4 months to two weeks. Also under the new system, Schools can obtain an interim license within a week after application.”
He further added that, “SLIMS will improve transparency and accountability as well as the standards and quality of education in our schools”.
Dr. Bawumia again added that the system is in two models thus, licensing and inspection, which are accessible off-line nationwide and available to school proprietors and schools, to make requests to NaSIA for licensing and inspection of schools.
