H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic, has launched the Electronic
Tax Clearance Certificate together with two other initiatives thus, the Tax Compliance Short
Code *880# and the Online Tax Return Fillings for the Ghana Revenue Authority, on the 30th of March, 2023, in Accra.
These electronic systems allow taxpayers to use their personal computers, mobile phones, or
tablets to file their tax returns, apply for tax compliance certificates, and make payments through the GRA’s taxpayer portal (www.taxpayersportal.com).The platform can also be accessed through a QR Code and the USSD code thus, *880#.
Dr. Bawumia has expressed delight in the GRA for buying into government’s Digital Ghana
Agenda idea to promote national development and economic growth. He is of the assurance that the initiatives will support the growth of the country’s tax-to-GDP ratio from 13% to 18-20% within a short period of time.
He further said, “When we faithfully declare our taxes, we’ll be in a position to hold government accountable on what our tax money is being used for. Let us join hands together to develop our country”.
The Electronic Tax Clearance Certificate is another digital payment initiative that is increasing
transparency, revenue mobilization and tackling the issue of corruption in the revenue
mobilization sector. It is also part of the government’s resolve to make it easy and convenient for the good people of Ghana to access Government and other services through digitalization.
