The Vice President of the Republic, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has graced the occasion of the enskinment of the Yagbonwura of the Gonja State, Bii- Kunuto Jawu Soale at the Jakpa Palace in the Savannah Region.
Addressing the gathering at the colourful enskinment ceremony of the Overlord, Dr. Bawumia
said, “we know that the Yagbon State is one of the oldest Kingdoms we have in Ghana and in
Northern Ghana…in terms of land mass the Savannah Region which encompasses the Gonja
State is the largest in Ghana and it tells you about the exploits of the founder, Ndewura Jakpa
who established this Kingdom and the process of getting to Yagbon and the enskinment of the Yagbonwura has been very well clearly laid out and has been said before there is no dispute when our father Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I) died, it was very clear the Tuluwe was coming and this is what is really is so nice about the succession of the Gonja Kingdom”.
Dr. Bawumia again indicated Government’s continued support to the Yagbonwura, Bii- Kunuto
Jawu Soale to develop the Gonjaland as it is his vision. He said, “I will like to assure the
Yagbonwura that we have heard the plans and visions he has for the Gonja State and the Region and I want to assure him that the Government will give him the utmost cooperation in fulfilling that vision for the development of Yagbon State…”
He again called for unity to enhance the development that we all seek, saying, “We should
always remember that our enemy is poverty, and we should make sure that we come together to have development, the development we cannot have without peace. And therefore, we need to hold peace as a very high-level objective and work towards getting peace among ourselves”.
