The Vice President of the Republic, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed contentment at the progress of work on the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) operational headquarters in Takoradi, when he inspected the project, on May 10, 2023.
“I’ve seen the work ongoing here and I must say I’m impressed with the work done so far. The building is 90% ready. As a government, we believe that the development of the country should be decentralized hence the need to put up office space here for GNPC. When the building is done and the facility is operational, the workers here and those in Accra will work together to help boost the sector” he said.
The project according to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is in fulfillment of a manifesto pledge to the chiefs and people of the Western Region. He said, “This project is in fulfillment of a manifesto pledge to the chiefs and people of the Western Region by the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) during the 2016 electioneering campaign”.
He further added that the project is aimed at making the Western Region the hub of the petrochemical industries in West Africa Sub- Region.
