The Vice President of the Republic, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has on September 15, 2023, commissioned 339 Officers of Cadet Course Intake XXIII into the Officers Corps of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in Accra.
He lauded the Officers for honouring the call to serve the nation and has entreated them to uphold the tenets of the GNFS, saying, “…uphold the tenets of the Ghana National Fire Service and serve with commitment and dedication”.
Dr. Bawumia noted Government’s appreciation of the vital role played by the GNFS in fire management in the country, which is evident in the massive resource investments in the Service, including the recent supply of two hydraulic platforms capable of reaching the sixteenth floor of a building, to tackle fire and facilitate rescue in high-rise buildings.
He added that, “…to boost the training capacity of the Fire Service, two additional fire Academy and Training Schools, as well as a Fire College, are under construction”.
