Discipline, unity, and renewal: Bawumia charts path forward at NPP 2025 Delegates Conference

Today was a memorable one for the members of the New Patriotic Party as the party converged at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium for its National Delegates Conference.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice‑President and 2024 presidential flagbearer, delivered a powerful address urging calm, discipline, and unity among party cadres.

He warned against “internal attacks and divisions,” stressing that “indiscipline, unacceptable language and unpardonable behaviour” only supply fodder for opponents. He also called on members to “stop the internal attacks now” and to mend party fractures created during and after the 2024 elections  .

Dr. Bawumia emphatically denounced tribalism and religious bigotry as existential threats to the party:

“Tribalism and religious bigotry … pose an existential threat and should have no place in the NPP.”

He reminded delegates that the NPP’s path to recovery relies on “solidarity, discipline, and a focus on common goals” as it eyes a return to power in 2028. The theme of rebuilding through values resonated throughout his speech.

Dr. Bawumia also challenged the party to demonstrate tangible lessons learned from the 2024 defeat, cautioning that restructuring must lead not just to electoral success but to better governance. “Ghanaians must see clear evidence of the lessons the NPP has learned,” he emphasized  .

Additionally, he urged the leadership to “crack the whip” and strengthen party discipline to ensure cohesion and effective internal management.

Dr. Bawumia’s address was a clarion call for self‑reflection within the NPP, stressing unity over division, discipline over discord, and action over rhetoric. As the party positions itself for the next election cycle, his message underscored the importance of internal harmony and renewed commitment to good governance.
