The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), H.E Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has on March 23, 2024, expressed satisfaction on the just ended 13th African Games, Accra 2023.
He noted that, “Hosting this prestigious African sports festival, for the first time in our nation’s history, in the midst of unforeseen challenges which affected the global sporting calendar, has proven, once again, what Ghana can achieve with a possibility mindset.”
Dr. Bawumia added that, Accra 2023 has not only left Ghana with a legacy of world-class multi-sports facilities that will benefit our sports growth, but it has also served as a launchpad for young Ghanaian athletes. Many of these competitors have also written their names in gold, giving Ghana its largest medal haul at any international sporting event.
He lauded the team from Ghana for their outstanding performance saying, “As the well-organised 13th edition of the African Games comes to a close today, I extend my warmest congratulations to all our national teams and individuals, who have made Ghana proud by winning medals in their respective competitions.”
Dr. Bawumia added that this marks the beginning of opportunities for Ghana’s talented youth in the field of Sports.
