Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has departed Accra for the United Kingdom to participate in a high-level symposium at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, held in honour of Professor Paul Collier, a globally acclaimed development economist.
The symposium celebrates the distinguished career and scholarly contributions of Professor Collier, whose work on poverty, governance, fragile states, and economic development has influenced policy thinking across the world. The gathering is expected to bring together leading academics, policymakers, and development practitioners to reflect on Professor Collier’s impact and the future of development policy.
Dr. Bawumia’s participation in the event underscores his continued engagement with global policy discourse and thought leadership on development issues that are of direct relevance to Ghana and the African continent. His presence at the symposium also reflects the importance he places on knowledge exchange, evidence-based policymaking, and international collaboration in shaping solutions for sustainable national development.
While in Oxford, Dr. Bawumia will also take part in a number of related engagements and activities before returning to Ghana over the weekend, God willing.
His visit highlights the value of strengthening ties between Ghanaian leadership and leading global institutions as part of ongoing efforts to draw insights and best practices that can inform national policy direction.
