Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has joined Naa Dr. Edmund Nminyem Delle Chiir VIII, Paramount Chief of Nandom Traditional Area, Honourable Ambrose Dery, Minister for Interior and MP for Nandom constituency, and Chiefs and people of Nandom Traditional Area on December 3, 2023, for the launch of the 32nd Kakube Festival, in the Upper West Region.
He made remark “on the special place festivals hold in the rich tapestry of Ghana’s cultural heritage, and the significance of celebrating festivals to preserve our rich culture”.
Dr. Bawumia lauded the Chiefs and People of Nandom, for sustaining the celebration of the Kakube Festival, which reflects the spirit of peace, unity and development.
The Kakube Festival is celebrated to express gratitude to the gods for their protection and direction throughout the farming season, as well as to mark the end of the farming season. It is also a time when the inhabitants of Nandom’s ancestral territory reestablish bonds and demonstrate their rich customs and culture.
