H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic, on July 21, 2023, received H.E Amb. Minata Samate Cessouma, AU Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, and AU Advocacy Mission and her entourage at the Jubilee House.
H.E Minata and her team have sought for Ghana’s support to rectify the protocol on free movement, to hasten the integration of the African continent. She has also lauded Ghana’s remarkable strides in the implementation of the seven aspirations of the Commission.
H.E Dr. Bawumia reiterated the country’s leading role in Pan-Africanism and the idea of integration of the African continent, adding that, “the artificial barriers inhibit the full potential of the continent and we must work to remove those barriers”.
He also emphasized the importance of digital identification systems in ensuring safe movement across the continent.
