H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic, has on July 14, 2023, received the World Bank Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde, the Ghana Country Director, Pierre Laporte, and their team at the Jubilee House, to deliberate on the energy sector and its related challenges.
He noted saying, “We discussed the critical energy sector and its related challenges and how Government was working through its relevant agencies to address some of the challenges with a serious focus on the immediate to long-term strategy”.
The World Bank team has commended Government for taking many good decisions to address the sector’s challenges, and pledged Bank’s support to Government in dealing with the issues.
The Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, the Energy Minister, and the Interior Minister were present at the meeting.
Anna Bjerde is on a four-day work visit to Ghana and her first since her appointment as Managing Director in April 2023.
