Youth in Maritime and Aviation Careers

Under Dr. Bawumia’s vision, Ghanaian youth pursuing careers in maritime and aviation will benefit from significant advancements in infrastructure, skills training, and industry development. His focus on modernizing key sectors, including transportation and logistics, will open up more job opportunities in both maritime and aviation fields. Investments in expanding ports, enhancing airports, and promoting Ghana as a regional aviation hub will create roles in engineering, piloting, logistics management, and operations. Additionally, support for technical and vocational education, including specialized training programs in maritime and aviation, will equip the youth with the practical skills needed to succeed in these industries, positioning them to take advantage of emerging opportunities in global trade, tourism, and logistics.

Question 1: What is the long-term vision for youth employment in maritime and aviation careers?

Answer: Our long-term vision is to establish Ghana as a hub for maritime and aviation expertise in West Africa. By training young Ghanaians and creating a strong workforce, we aim to support the growth of these sectors, boost international trade, and provide sustainable career paths for the youth. This will contribute to economic development and position Ghana as a leader in the region.

Question 2: How will coastal development initiatives benefit the youth?

Answer: Coastal development projects will create job opportunities in areas such as fishing, marine transport, coastal tourism, and port management. By investing in these sectors, we will boost local economies along the coast and provide young people with sustainable employment in maritime-related industries.

Question 3: What is the “Youth in Seafaring” Programme, and how will it create jobs for young Ghanaians?

Answer: The “Youth in Seafaring” Programme is an initiative aimed at providing training and employment opportunities for young Ghanaians in the maritime sector. Through partnerships with shipping companies, maritime academies, and coastal development projects, the program will equip youth with skills in navigation, ship maintenance, and marine engineering, preparing them for careers as seafarers, deckhands, and maritime technicians.

Question 4: What job opportunities will be available for youth in the aviation sector?

Answer: The expanded training programs will create opportunities for youth to become pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft maintenance engineers, and airport management staff. We will also encourage youth to explore careers in aviation logistics, cargo handling, and customer service.

Question 5: How does Bawumia plan to expand training programs in the aviation sector?

Answer: We will invest in aviation training centers to provide specialized courses for pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft maintenance engineers, and cabin crew. By expanding these programs, we aim to develop a pool of skilled professionals who can meet the demands of Ghana’s growing aviation industry and pursue careers in regional and international airlines.
