Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Students and learners through Expanding Educational Opportunities

Question 1: How will Bawumia’s policies expand educational opportunities for students across Ghana?

Answer: Dr. Bawumia’s government will expand access to quality education through the Free SHS/TVET program, ensuring that all students, regardless of background, can attend secondary school or technical vocational institutions without financial barriers. Additionally, the introduction of the Centralized Applications Processing Service (CAPS) will streamline the admissions process, making it easier for students to apply to educational institutions.

Question 2: How will digital education platforms enhance learning for students?

Answer: A Bawumia Presidency will promote digital education platforms to provide students with access to online learning resources, e-libraries, and government services. This will allow students to learn at their own pace and explore additional topics beyond the traditional curriculum, enhancing their overall educational experience.

Question 3: How will career guidance programs benefit students in secondary schools?

Answer: Career guidance programs will help students understand their strengths and interests, making it easier for them to choose suitable career paths. Through these programs, students will receive counseling, mentorship, and exposure to different career options, allowing them to make informed decisions about their future.

Question 4: What is the Centralized Applications Processing Service (CAPS), and how will it benefit students?

Answer: CAPS will be a unified system for processing applications to secondary schools and technical institutions. It will simplify the process for students and parents, reduce errors, and increase transparency. This will make it easier for students to choose the right educational path based on their interests and career goals.

Question 5: What initiatives will be introduced for youth interested in technical skills outside traditional schooling?

Answer: Dr. Bawumia’s government will provide alternative livelihood training in skills such as welding, carpentry, and cosmetology, especially for youth in artisanal fisheries. This will empower them to explore other career opportunities and enhance their skills, promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Question 6: What measures are being taken to improve digital infrastructure in schools?

Answer: A Bawumia Presidency plans to increase digital infrastructure by providing secondary students with tablets and equipping schools with modern teaching tools, such as interactive whiteboards and high-speed internet. This will ensure that students can access digital content and participate in virtual lessons, preparing them for a tech-driven world.

Question 7: What is the purpose of the “Ready-for-Work” certifications, and how will they help students?

Answer: The “Ready-for-Work” certifications are designed to equip students with practical technical skills, such as welding, carpentry, and cosmetology, while they are still in school. These certifications will make students more employable and prepare them to enter the job market immediately after completing their education, or even pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
