Vice President Bawumia launches the CitizenApp

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has on Monday October 7, 2024, launched the CitizenApp in Accra.

He noted that, “the CitizenApp, which features a unique identification system like the Ghanacard, has been designed to give citizens a lifetime digital experience, as the app can be used to access public services, such as registering the birth of a new-born baby, applying for a passport and drivers license, renewing NHIS card, registering businesses, filing of taxes, searching for jobs, changing of names and, in the unfortunate event of the death of a loved one, accessing death certificate.”

Dr. Bawumia further added that, since 2017, the NPP government has remained committed to laying a solid digital foundation, including the introduction of a biometric national identity card (Ghanacard), a digital address system, mobile money interoperability to increase financial inclusion, and the digitization of critical public services. Building these digital foundations is critical to the transition of a contemporary economy during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The launch of the CitizenApp he says, “further demonstrates our commitment to enhancing interactions between government and citizens, as well as giving citizens the best digital experience.”
